The short answer is YES. The migration tool works well with the trial Shopify store as well as the development Shopify store.
*Note: a trial Shopify store only allows you to import maximum 4 orders. From the 5th order onwards, you will get this error while performing the migration: “Exceeded API rate limit, please try again in a minute. Upgrade to a paid account to remove this limit”. In this case, you could upgrade your Shopify store to a paid plan to continue migrating the missing orders.
